Wildfire Research and Legislation Plan
2025-2026 State Policy Team Project
Policy Director: Hyejun Yun
Policy Analysts: Angelina Ma, Chasen Rose, Kate Mason, Maci Carson, and Shijia Tang
This project investigates the causes and consequences of wildfires in California, with a regional focus on Los Angeles. Our research spans both prevention and recovery, covering topics including human-caused ignition sources, drought patterns, post-wildfire air and water quality, and state-level economic impacts. We will contribute to a policy analysis that synthesizes scientific and socioeconomic data into actionable insights. The legislative output may include proposals for stricter land-use regulations, drought-mitigation strategies, wildfire-resilient infrastructure funding, and public health safeguards related to post-fire pollution.
