Wildfire Research and Legislation Plan
2024-2025 State Policy Team Project
Policy Director: Hyejun Yun
Policy Analysts: Kiera Glazer, Bryan Fok, Gabrielle Fannin, Chasen Rose, Angelina Ma, Sophia Strandberg, and Shijia Tang
This project investigates the causes and consequences of wildfires in California, with a regional focus on Los Angeles. Our research spans both prevention and recovery, covering topics such as manmade ignition sources, drought patterns, post-wildfire air and water quality, and state-level economic impacts. We will contribute to a policy analysis that synthesizes scientific and socioeconomic data into actionable insights. The legislative output may include proposals for stricter land use regulations, drought mitigation strategies, wildfire-resilient infrastructure funding, and public health safeguards related to post-fire pollution.
